Closes: 5 April 2024
We are seeking applicants who hold a PhD in an area related to modern East Asian history. We invite applications from historians working on any field of East Asian history during the eighteenth, nineteenth or twentieth centuries, but particularly welcome applications that complement the department’s existing strengths in economic and social history, histories of knowledge, and global and transnational history. In line with our 2019 ten-year strategy, the department is also keen to encourage applicants with expertise relating to histories of environment, (in)equality, and/or race and racialisation. We also welcome applications from scholars whose work seeks to reframe ‘East Asia’ as a geographic category and/or engages critically with the concept of modernity.
